The Essential Walt Disney World Packing List

The Essential Walt Disney World Packing List

Planning a trip to Walt Disney World is very exciting and can be a bit hectic if you are a first timer and are trying to plan out the perfect trip.  One of the best ways to ensure that you and your family enjoy your trip to Walt Disney World is to make sure that you bring everything that you will need and that you “might” need.  This can be a challenge, especially because everyone is different when it comes to deciding what to pack for your trip and what to bring with you when visiting the Walt Disney World Parks.

The last thing you want to have to stress over is thinking about what you forgot at home or at your resort, and that you may have to purchase at an inflated price in the parks.  To help you, we have created our Walt Disney World Packing List to help save you stress, time, and money during your next Disney World trip.  Please feel free to print our free Walt Disney World packing list and use it while planning your next trip to Disney!

Clothing

Clothing items can be one of the biggest challenges when it comes to your Walt Disney world packing list, especially if you are travelling during certain times of the year when the weather can vary greatly.  Don’t be like us several years ago, when we forgot to pack long sleeve shirts for an early fall trip to Disney World, and we ended up freezing several of the early mornings when visiting the parks.

Double check the weather forecast before your trip so you can be aware of what type of weather you will be dealing with on your next trip.  Do not be afraid to bring something warm even during the summertime, as some of the indoor resort areas and restaurants can be quite chilly as they keep the air temperature extra cool during the hot months!

We definitely recommend bringing ponchos which you can pick up here as they can cost several times this amount if you buy them in the Disney Parks.  Do not forget, you may want to wear one before riding Splash Mountain as depending upon where you sit, you could end up quite wet!

Medicine and First Aid

These items can end up being something to help get you through a newly acquired cold, an uneasy stomach, or from newly formed blisters from walking the many miles throughout the Disney Parks!  One big thing that we stress is making sure you have band aids or moleskin as these can make walking much more comfortable, especially if you are prone to getting blisters or hot spots on your feet from all of the walking you will do.  Believe it or not, it is not unusual for us to walk 8-10 miles in a day while visiting a Disney Park.  We have personally used moleskin successfully to help prevent further damage to our feet from constant walking and moving.  The last thing that you want to worry about is dreading a vacation day due to angry blisters on your feet, so don’t forget these important items from your Walt Disney World Packing list!

Toiletries

One of the first things to consider with toiletries is the size of any liquids you may plan on bringing with you if you are flying.  As of this article, you are only allowed liquids of 3.4 ounces or less and all of these items must fit into a quart sized clear bag.  Although Disney Resorts does offer some of these items such as shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, many people like to bring their own preferred brands with them when they travel.

This TSA approved toiletry kit is a great thing to purchase which comes with a clear quart sized bag and empty containers which you can fill with your own beauty products from home.  This kit is TSA approved and can save you from having to buy a bunch of different travel sized toiletries which really adds up over several people!

Also, take it from us and bring sunscreen from home or buy a travel sized one at your local store, as we forgot sunscreen one year and paid nearly $10 for a very small tube!  Because of that experience, we have not forgotten to bring sunscreen with us since then.

In-Park Gear

So, you have made it to your Disney Resort successfully and now comes the other challenging part of bringing what you will need during your time in the Parks.  The first thing to bring with you is your Magic Band as this is necessary to gain access to the Parks.  We recommend bringing a comfortable travel back pack with you into the parks as it can be used to store all of your in-park gear including your sunblock, hand sanitizer, bottled water, rain ponchos, and snacks.

For our readers who enjoy taking photos on their cell phones and using the My Disney Experience App on their phones, we recommend bringing a portable power bank to ensure that your phone stays powered the entire day/evening.  We highly recommend the Anker Power Ore 13000 as it can charge up to 2 devices at one time!  There is no feeling worse than looking at your cell phone and seeing a low battery, especially if you are using it for pictures or to communicate with others in your party or back home.  Most of these power banks are very small and lightweight so you do not have to worry about it weighing down your bag or backpack.

Miscellaneous

This Walt Disney World Packing List category is a place where we put things that may be easily overlooked during your packing.  Things such as earbuds or headphones for listening to music or a podcast on the airplane, a sewing kit for a loose button, a laundry bag for dirty clothes, insect repellent for bugs, and stain sticks for those messes which can happen out of the blue.  Some cheap yet reliable wireless headphones that we recommend are these by Letsfit which are waterproof and sweatproof to boot!

Travel Documents

These items are the ones that can cause the most heartache and stress if you happen to forget them, because unlike toiletries or clothing, some of them cannot be easily acquired if needed.  You want to make sure that you put your Magic Bands or park tickets together as this will ensure that you do not have any hiccups once on Disney Property in case there is an issue linking your tickets to your Magic Bands.  Boarding passes for the Magical Express, if you fly and plan on using this service from Disney to get from the airport to your resort are also a must bring.  You will want to ensure that you have a credit card, some cash for tipping if you feel so inclined, and a driver’s license as this is required at check in at your Disney Resort.

Water Park Gear

If you plan on visiting one of Disney’s adventurous waterparks, Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach, its important to remember the essentials for being outdoors and around water.  Obviously cell phones and water do not typically mix very well, and for most of us, we do not want to have to fork out the money for a new phone due to water exposure.  We have these pouches and have successfully used them in and around water several times and would recommend them to all of our readers.   The best part of this pouch is that not only can you fit your cell phone inside, but you can also fit some cash, a drivers license, and credit cards if you need to.

Our Walt Disney World Packing list may not have every item on it that you would prefer, but we hope that we provided you with some useful information that will help you during your next trip to Walt Disney World.  Please feel free to download our free Walt Disney World Packing list and use it on your next trip!  In the comments below, please let us know of some items that you feel are essential for your Disney Trip!
